BATON ROUGE (lsuports.net) -- LSU moved back into the top five in the nation in the Associated Press poll coming in at No. 5 this week following its 53-3 win over Arkansas State on Saturday.
The Tigers remained at No. 4 in the nation in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, which was also released on Sunday. In the AP poll, the Tigers moved one spot, jumping ahead of Florida State, who fell to Miami, 16-10, in overtime on Friday.
LSU has now been ranked in the top 10 in the nation in the AP poll for 16 straight weeks, dating back to the Sept. 21 poll last year. The Tigers have spent the 18 consecutive weeks in the coaches poll, a streak that dates back to the Sept. 14 last season.
The 16 consecutive weeks in the AP top 10 is the longest streak for LSU since spending 19 straight weeks there during the 1986 and 1987 seasons.
The top five teams in coaches poll remained the same for the third straight week with Southern Cal at No. 1, followed by Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU and Miami.
Saturday's contest against Auburn will pit the Tigers of LSU against the 14th-ranked Tigers of Auburn. Auburn is also ranked No. 15 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
Other SEC teams in the polls include Florida at No. 9 in the AP poll and No. 11 in the coaches poll and Tennessee at No. 13 in both polls.
ESPN announced on Sunday that College Gameday would be heading to Auburn for Saturday's SEC Western Division showdown between LSU and Auburn. It will mark the second time this year that LSU will be involved in a game in which College Gameday will be on hand. College Gameday opened the season in Baton Rouge for the Oregon State contest.
